Question: Long range surveillance camera, with active ir or thermal imaging?

Hello I am Need to protect processing and storage facility where oil and gas is stored. I need the longest range cameras possible and would like night vision I an not sure if I should do thermal or active IR. I have been looking online for active IR I have been able to find Bosch Exteme GVS-1000 and Ascendent Technology Group Sigma, Terra and Observe Series. Ascendent's products look better but I have not heard of them before has any used either of these cameras or companies before? For thermal I have found a company called FLIR . If there are better solutions please let me know.
